So I went to go look at things that weren't on the internet for a while. I found some stuff.

The radio tower at my cousin's place. Her Dad was trying to set up an Anishinaabe pirate radio station some years back, part of a project to do with preserving the language in an English-saturated media environment. After he passed away she figured they could get a license easy enough. Many proposals, letters and a c+d later, she got it running. It was up for two weeks this summer, before the band council pulled their support.

Someone's tail.

There was a couch, chair and little lean-to out in the woods by the water. The conspicuous lack of recent beer bottles just goes to show how fucking lazy the kids are getting. They're all hanging out in their moms' basements to drink now.

This is exactly the kind of desk I was freaking out looking for last winter...for that art thing that turned out differently. There it is. In the beach.

This is a mishupishu egg. When it hatches I will finally have someone to hang out with here.

It went pretty smoothly, considering that a bunch of performance art students were running it themselves. Note: if you ever do a show in a theater-ish venue, don't put performance artists in charge. Don't put artists in charge, either...that's what techs are for. And do real rehearsals. ('We don't need to rehearse, our art just bubbles up spontaneously from within!')

It was fun though. We rock the Montreal art thing :)

I was painted red for the show, and afterward I kinda looked like I'd been dipped in gore.
The exhibition was awesome!

The Belgo Building (dozens of art galleries in one place) + Nuit Blanche (the city's annual all-night art festival) = over 1500 visitors through our exhibition in one night. Holy CRAP. There was a lineup outside the gallery by midnight. I had to wait 20 minutes to get my guests into my own show.

:D

The vernissage was much quieter (you could actually see the art) and cozier. An impressively-mustached art critic (Dr.So-and-so-with-the-duster) even took an interest in my piece. He spent a while telling me about all the famous native artists he knows personally...until some airy little douche interrupted to quote Shakespeare and then kinda stand there, looking expectant. *facepalm* Is "Shakespeare said that, you know" code for something?

My piece...

A photo series and a set of crocheted donuts, opposite my piece...

A video installation...

And a drawing and a painted set of furniture.

It was a really good run, overall.
Concordia's ArtMatters festival is coming up, and I got myself into a show that's coinciding with Nuit-fucking-Blanche. YEAH.

Make Yourself At Home
Les Territoires Est
Belgo Building, 372 Rue Ste-Catherine O #527
feb 27 to march 7

(Of course, there's been a fuckup, and my name/project description is nowhere <strike>on the website or</strike> on the freshly-printed leaflets. Go figure.)

The vernissage is on Wednesday, March 4, 7 - 10 pm. We will have cupcakes, wine and art. :) Nuit Blanche is on Feb 28, all night, and will probably also be vernissage-y(drunken). And hey, it's fucking Nuit Blanche in fucking Montreal, all the cool kids will be there. Come to Montreal!

Some images of my piece...
